The Reason For The Season

The year 2008 has been a year full of blessings. But blessings come in many shapes and sizes. Sometimes, the shape and size they come in don’t seem to fit at first. Hardships are blessings because they turn our eyes Upward. When our eyes are looking to Jesus we find His strength to face whatever challenge may come our way.

People we love are facing some hard times right now – physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially, and relationally. Ted and I have had our share this year, too. But, oh, what a mighty God we serve! What an awesome God we love! He never abandons His children. And when we run to Him, His arms are open wide to receive us.

There has not been a time this year that we have been without food, clothing, money to pay bills, vehicles to get where we needed to go and gas to get us there. We have shelter over our head, hot water to bathe in, and a clean, comfortable bed to sleep in. Our days are filled with work to prosper us. Our homes are filled with televisions, computers, Ipods, and other “things” that make our lives easier and more interesting. If there ever is a lean time when ends just aren’t meeting, we have family, friends, and church family loving us and doing all they can to lend a hand.

Christmas isn’t a “holiday” that we’re supposed to celebrate one day of the year and wait until the next one rolls around. More than 2,000 years ago our Savior, Jesus, was born. He came into this world so that we could live now … and forever with Him and our Heavenly Father. Let us celebrate “Jesus” each new day in the way we live our lives and love those around us.

May God bless you all.

Merry “CHRIST”mas and a Happy New Year!
